"An exquisite weave of warm, pastoral, violin-based original music from Nigel Hess, this is that rare thing: a dud-free score that requires no prior knowledge of the film for enjoyment. Joshua Bell's violin sings and swoops through a whole gamut of emotions masked beneath a genteel exterior."
Anna Britten, Classic FM Magazine 'Best Buy'

Following successful concerts with the RPO at St.John's Smith Square and the Royal Festival Hall, Nigel recently conducted highlights from his Royal Shakespeare Company scores, together with music from other Shakespearean productions, for a Gala evening called The Food Of Love. Hosted by Dame Judi Dench and Patrick Stewart, the sell-out concert took place at Cadogan Hall, London.

Recent commissions include the première of a new work commissioned by London's National Gallery performed by pianist Piers Lane as part of the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concerts in November; a new suite for wind band, Shakespeare Pictures, commissioned by Birmingham Symphonic Winds; and the music for the opening production of Shakespeare’s Globe 2009 season, Romeo and Juliet, directed by Dominic Dromgoole. For the Globe's 2010 season Nigel will be scoring a new production of Henry VIII, and his score for The Merry Wives of Windsor will be heard again later in the same season in a revival of Christopher Luscombe's hit production from 2008. Nigel is also currently scoring a new feature film version of The Winter’s Tale.
